Francesco Lana-Terzi publishes Prodimo, which, in one section, explains his new system for the bind [1]. This is the first system to use dots and lines to represent letters [1]. In his system, letters are arranged on a chart, and written by their location on this chart [1].
For example, The letter "s" would be written like this.
Charles Barbier creates "Night Writing" [3].
Louis Braille creates his braille alphabet [3].
Braille publishes his alphabet [3].
Braille becomes used in the Institution Nationale de Jeunes Avengles in Paris, France [2].
Braille becomes used in England [2].
American Association for the Blind decides to use revised braille as a standard format in America [2].
